What is Tourette's Syndrome?

Tourette's syndrome is a tic disorder which is characterized by involuntary movements of the muscles. Its first symptoms appear in childhood and the increase in the years of teenage and reduce by the adulthood and the continuing years. Copralalia is a tic that appears in some individuals, which is distinguished by involuntary sounds or swearing. there are also motor tics which include the involuntary move of neck, arm, shoulder and legs. In some cases, people with TS might also have behavioral problems, which may cause them trouble in schools or university. Tics increase in stressful situations and exciting moments, and they reduce when the individual is happy, calm and relaxed.

Tourette Syndrome Treatment

Although there is not an exact cure for TS, there are a lot of medicatons which help in decreasing and controlling the tics. Psychotherapies also affect in improvement of tic controlling and recent years they seemed to be highly effective. People with tourette's syndrome should visit a psychiatric doctor, who can advice what drug to take and provide psychotherapies to them.

The word psychology comes from latin language which means science (logos) of soul (pychos). Psychology studies the behavior and the mind of human beings.
